Victoria art distributor backs Right To Play
Victoria, BC - October 19, 2006 - Victoria-based Galleria Fine Art is getting behind the work of Right To Play. The art distribution company is committed to raising awareness about this athlete-driven international humanitarian organization. Right To Play uses sport and play as a tool for the development of children and youth in the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Galleria President Tawra Geerdink has given the go ahead for designated proceeds from sales of The Sir Winston Churchill Fine Art Collection to go towards Right To Play's work.
"We support their mandate to create a healthier and safer world for children through the power of sport and play," says Geerdink. "By spreading the word about Right To Play's commitment to creating peaceful communities we are also following the principles of the great 20th century statesmen, Sir Winston Churchill. He believed that all people should have an equal opportunity to excel around the world. By showcasing his artwork in this way, we are also realizing our goal to donate money to worthy causes that are in line with the wishes of the Sir Winston Churchill Trust.""Right To Play is looking forward to the launch of Galleria Fine Art's Winston Churchill Fine Art Collection," says Warren Spires, National Director of Right To Play. "The financial contribution from each piece of art work sold will go to support Right To Play's specially designed sport and play programs in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Our programs help to shape children's lives by improving their health, providing growth opportunities, teaching conflict resolution, promoting peace, and creating a healthier and safer world for children."
Galleria Fine Art was recently awarded the exclusive Canadian distribution rights to the newly released Fine Art Collection by Sir Winston Churchill. Two limited editions are part of the campaign to support Right To Play: Churchill's painting of his estate home called, "View of Chartwell" and one of his most celebrated works, "A Study of Boats." Partial proceeds from each piece sold through Right To Play will go back to the organization.

"History has shown Churchill's strong love for Canada and her people, and is ever evident in our communities through the many testaments and tributes to him across the country" says Tawra Geerdink, President of Galleria Fine Art. "We are happy to continue that legacy by bringing this important collection of Churchill's artwork to Canada."
The initial release will consist of the following two images, with another 4 editions to be completed by the end of 2006. Each print is facsimile signed, and bears the embossed seal of the Trust.

When Channel One New York chose to interview the director of Art Expo New York, they chose the background wisely. While the director enthusiastically described the overwhelming success of the Expo, "View from Chartwell" by Sir Winston Churchill created an elegant and historically prestigious mood.
The Sir Winston Churchill Collection was unveiled for the first time at the Expo on March 4th, 2006. Art Expo New York attracts nearly 40000 art buyers and collectors and is considered the most important art event of the year.
